Roachton Road construction to continue through Dec. 1 | Transportation
Construction along Roachton Road in Perrysburg could cause delays as students prepare to return to school. The intersection of Roachton and Fort Meigs will be closed through August 8, and the Roachton widening project will continue until December 1.
Perrysburg High School sits along the constriction zone on Roachton, and Ft. Meigs Elementary is just a few blocks away. “It would affect obviously the high school, because we do have student drivers going to the high school, we have more cars there than anywhere else,” said Aura Norris of Perrysburg Schools. “It would also affect Ft. Meigs, because Ft. Meigs is right down the street.”
Roachton is being widened to two lanes in each direction, with a landscaped median in the center. City Engineer Doug Dariano says the city has been planning the project for several years, and recently received a grant to help with the cost of construction.
Construction will continue past the August 24 start of school, but Dariano says the city will do what it can to keep two lanes open in both directions once classes begin.
