Wood County unemployment jumps to 7% | News
BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) - Wood County’s unemployment rate climbed to the same place it was a year ago in the month of May.
Wood County reported 7 percent unemployment in May, exactly the same rate reported in May of 2012, and considerably higher than the 6.6 percent reported in April of 2013.
The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services estimates there are 61,900 working Wood County residents, with 4,700 still looking for work.
Wood County’s unemployment rate is above the statewide average, but below the national average. The state of Ohio saw 6.9 percent unemployment in May, below the national average of 7.6 percent.
